Notes for Estella Rebecca Stevens:While she was growing up and living at home, her father used to have a dress
maker come in every spring and make entire outfits for the year for her three
sisters and herself and her Mother.She never wanted for anything thus never
learned to do too much for herself but she did like to cook.
She was a diabetic and took Insulin shots every day as an adult.When she was
still living at home and was younger, she fell in love with a musician, a
violinist.As this was not an accepted thing to do in those days, she was sent
to Shenandoah, Iowa to live with her cousin Abbie.There is where she met and
later married Robert.When her father was struck by a pole and killed and the
family got a settlement, she ran down to where Robert was working on a roof and
said, Bob come on down from there, we're rich and you'll never have to work
again.
