Notes for ROBERT WRIGHT BARRETT:
1. Wagonmaster (II. 1857) He was wagonmaster of Train 25 of Majors and Russell, supplying the forces of Albert Sidney Johnston in the so-called Mormon War of 1857. The train was burned by Lot Smith the night of October 4, 1857, on the Green River, Wyoming
2. On the night of October 4, 1857, Major Lot Smith's Mormon party captured and burne Majors an Russell's trains 21 and 5 in charge of Wagon-Masters John M. Dawson and R. W. Barrett at Simpson's Hollow on Green River. The bullwhackers of these trains were set afoot and had to walk twenty miles to Camp Winfield.

Notes for THOMAS LAFAYETTE BARRETT:
1. Thomas moved out west to Hartville, Missouri and worked for some cattlemen around that area. He was a stagecoach driver and a freight hauler during the Civil War. He left Hartville to return to the area west of Springfield where his family was living. His house, an 81 acre farm is located west of Springfield on Hwy. 266, and is now owned by a grandson, John William "Bill" Barrett. The farm is on the south side of the highway.
