|I am researching the TINNON [Tinnin, Tinan, Tinning, Teenan, Tynnan, O-Tyvanane, O-Teynane, O Teimhneain] family that came to America from the highlands of Scotland to Ulster or Northern Ireland.When the opportunity came for John Tinnon to come to America, he did.As with most of the Scotch-Irish he first settled in Pennsylvania and then moved down the valley of Virginia and then into the Piedmont section of North Carolina.After the Revolutionary War ended, Hugh Tinnon, Col. of the Orange County Militia, Province of N.C., his wife, Sibella THOMPSON and his family settled in Tennessee and his descendants, including Lawrence TINNON and Elizabeth ALLEN Tinnon, moved into Arkansas and other points west.|
