|I have been researching my parents family and my spouse's family since 1985. That was the year my mother died and we had spent the previous year trying to find out information about her mother who passed away when my Mother was 6 yrs. old. |
Ancestors on my mother's side came to Maryland on "The Arc and Dove" from England in the 1600's and are included in the migration patterns of "The Maryland Catholics on the Frontier". They traveled from Maryland, to Kentucky, then settled in Perry Co., Missouri and married into a 3rd generation German family living in St. Louis Mo. This German family history includes branches that derive from Alsance-Lorraine.
My father's ancestors came to Kentucky in the late 1700's from Virgina where records have been hard to find since many were destroyed during the Civil War. Some families also migrated to Indiana from Penn. and N.Y. by way of the river to
My husband's family lived in Indiana since Indian Terr. opended and the State started to be formed. Some migrated from Germany in the late 1840's while others migrated from Penn. and Ohio. Most were families wanting land to build a home and to be away from overdeveloped areas and valued freedom.
I have found all of these people who migrated to Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky and Missouri where strong in spirit and body. They had strong family ties and worked the land or rivers of these states. I have learned much about my roots and am proud to say these people are my family.
Any information regarding my family tree would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have acquired.
