Children: Emma age 13 born in Iowa, Delphena age 11 born in Iowa, and Fremont aged 9 born in Colorado Territory.Fremont is my great grandfather. His whole name was Charles Fremont Smith, he is also found in documents as Charles F Smith, and C F Smith. He married Eva Ann Sharp on Dec 6 1882 in Quitman Nodaway County Missouri. They left Missouri in about 1896 for Nebraska and can be found in the 1900 census of Covington Precinct South Sioux City Dakota County Nebraska. In about 1907 they moved on to Hardisty Alberta Canada. Charles F Smith and family can be found in the 1911 census in Hardisty. He is buried at Hardisty, having died in Oct 1922.|
Delphena was Eunice Delphena Smith she married Monroe Sharp (Eva Ann's brother) in August 1875 in Nodaway County Missouri, they can be found in the 1880 census in Nodaway, they too moved on to Nebraska and both are buried in Dakota County.
Sarah E Smith married Joseph Williamson on Oct 3 1871 in Nodaway County, they are in Nodaway County in the 1880 census. The Williamson family is found in the 1885 census of Webster County Nebraska and Sarah E Williamson is listed in a directory of Red Cloud in 1890.In 1895 she married for the second time in Red Cloud Nebraska to Benjamin Watson. Ben and Sarah Watson are found in the 1895 census of Odessa Jewell County Kansas.
Emory and Lucy and Delphena and Monroe also lived for a time in Kansas..they are living next door to each other in the 1885 census of Cora Pawnee township Smith County Kansas.
There is a burial record for Lucy A Smith wife of Emory in the Keenan Cemetery, Farmers Branch Dallas County Texas, from 1893. An Emory Smith "Dealer in Livestock" is also listed in the Dallas County Directory of 1889 - 1894. Did Emory and Lucy end up in Texas?
I have not located Emory and Lucy Smith in the 1880 census, but I have copies of newspaper articles from 1876 and 1880 that place them in Colorado in those years when Emory was a Cattleman in Chico Basin.
I have not located this family in 1860 census records, but later census records show Fremont was born in Colorado in Jan 1861.
An 1856 census from White Water Dubuque County Iowa, shows Emory, Lucy A, son John 7 born in Indiana, Mary A 10 born in New York, and daughter Sarah E born in Kentucky. A birth record from Kentucky shows a daughter born Nov 22 1853 in Carrolton daughter of Emry Smith and Lucy Swartz. This is Sarah E, I believe.
The 1850 census record from Posey township Switzerland County Indianashows Emery Smith age 31 farmer born in New York, wife Lucy A aged 25 born in Pennsylvania, children Daniel aged 6 born in New York, Mary age 4 born in New York, and John age 2 born in Iowa. A death record from Kentucky shows Daniel drowned in Carrolton in 1853.

P.S. The 1880 census Pueblo County Colorado shows an Emery Smith, wife Ellen, sons Emery and Charles... if this is an inaccurate account of my Smiths...it could be Emma of the 1870 census in Missouri was actually Emery Jr.
