Came from England, settled at Roxbury Plantation on Route 60 between Williamsburg and Jamestown near Roxbury, on border of New Kent Co., and Charles City, VA. From Cabbell - The family is by tradition Scottish. It is moreover said that the first Patteson settling in America had formerly lived in Wales.
New Information-Thomas Patteson was born in 1657 in Scotland. He died in 1725 in Virginia. Thomas came to this country as an indentured servant of Captain Francis Eppes in August 1635. Also on that ship was a woman named Ann Turner. There is a possibility that this Thomas married her, since they were on the same ship and they were probably in close contact during their time of indenture to Capt. Eppes. It is believed that this Thomas Patteson was the father of the Thomas Patteson who was at Roxbury. The time is right and Roxbury is not far from where the first Thomas had property.There are numerous references to the first Thomas Patteson is the Virginia Colonial Abstracts.
