|I descend from Charles James Tuckley, born at 171 Northbrook Street, Toxteth Park, Liverpool, Lancashire on July 7, 1883.Charles' parents were James Bromley Tuckley (b.1856, Willenhall, Staffordshire) and Annie Whittall (b.1855, Walsall, Staffordshire).James Bromley was a printer by trade.|
I am thankful to John Tuckley of Wolverhampton, the GOONS (one-name-coordinator) for "Tuckley" who has provided me with a genealogical record which extends back to Humphrey Tuckley, a baker, who died in Bentley in 1714.
Tuckley is a rare name.According to John Tuckley, the name was originally spelled "Tukkeleye" and dates back at least as far as 1275.
The name originates from the Yardley-Sheldon area of Birmingham in England where they lived until the 1600s.My branch of the family settled in Willenhall near Wolverhampton in the 1770s. I am told that many Tuckleys were locksmiths by trade.
Anyone wishing to contact me concerning my continuing research into the Tuckley family will certainly receive a prompt reply.I would especially appreciate hearing from any Tuckleys now living in the United States.I realize that there are not many of us on this side of "the pond."
