|I am a native of Shamokin, Pennsylvania. My ancestors include members of the SPOTTS, LYTLE, LINDERMAN, KASEMAN, SHIPMAN, SNYDER, CULTON and THOMAS families. In the course of my research I have located 50,000 "cousins," mostly located in and around Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. |
Can you help me with some dead ends? I'm looking for information about my g-g-grandfather, Isaac Luther SPOTTS, born June 3, 1847 in Danville, PA and died April 21, 1936 in Shamokin. He married Harriet M. FRANCIS (born 1840 in Danville, died 1920 in Shamokin). Isaac's father Luther was born in Germany.
I would also like information about Edward K. SNYDER (s/o Gideon SNYDER and Rebecca KOBEL) and his wife Sarah SNYDER (d/o William SNYDER and Mary UPDEGROVE). Both were born in or near Northumberland County.
We're also collecting information about my husband's family. His paternal grandfather Michael TUSZYNSKI was born near Warsaw, Poland in 1888, the son of Wladislaw and Caterine KALINASKI TUSZYNSKI. Michael was naturalized June 14, 1912 and died in Maspeth, Queens, New York in 1932. Some time after his own emigration, Michael brought his widowed father and brother Charles to the United States. While Charles stayed in the United States (and changed his surname to TUCHIN), Wladislaw returned to Poland and died there some time after 1939, persumably during the war.
Other names of interest in my husband's family are OSTROWSKI, ZICH, KAISER, MEINHARDT, HALLER and HAMM.
