My father, Herman Edmund "Speck" Vollmer was born Jan 22, 1921 in Overton, Nebraska, the son of Fred (Sr) and Jessie May Vollmer of Lexington, Nebraska. La Veta June Mintling was born to Leslie and Dee Mintling in Hayes center ,Nebraska on May 15, 1921. She moved to Lexington in 1939 to work at her aunt and uncle's( Charlie and Faye Anthony) farm, where she met her future husband. She moved to Santa Monica, California in 1941, where she worked for McDonnell-Douglas. Speck then came to California after serving in the Army in WW II, and they were married in 1946 in Glendale ,CA and have made their home at 2417 Hill Street in Santa Monica ever since. Veta passed away October 19, 1998. Please let me know of any errors on these pages, and of any other info you would like to share.
