The Burden Family Meeting Place
| This is for the decendants of Edward Burden born 1810 Cornwall, England. Married Hannah Rayborn born 1816 Kentucky. It is documented that were 15 children of this union. The father outlived all but 3 of his children and his wife. We know that 2 sons resided in Ohio for some time during the Civil War. One son was my Great-Great grandfather also Edward Burden born 1843. He served during the civil war as a private in the Ohio Volunteers, 7th Calvery. We have copies of his pension papers from the government.He married in 1866 at Bloomswitch, Bloomfield township, Sciota County, Ohio to Mary Catherine Hanna born 1850. They had 9 children from this union listed below as best we know:William Henry Edward Burden, Sarah Vernadel Burden, Hannah Angeline Burden, Mary Catherine Burden, Henrietta Ann Burden, Elizabeth Rose Burden,Lucy May Burden, Martha Shields Burden, and Joseph Nickolas Burden. Elizabeth Rose wrote poetry under the name of Serpta Jane.Not much is known about the others. Our line descends thru Henrietta Ann. She married Elmore Edward Gorden in 1899.
