My interest in our family tree began in 1999 after I sat down and read "The Christmas Valley Ulladahl's" written by Deloris Ulledahl Diffely, a cousin of my father, from 1889 to 1989. Included in the Ulledahl tree was the Weedeman Family up to my grandfather Henry Paul Weedeman who married Jennie Lydia Ulledahl on April 29th, 1923. At the time of this writing I have found very little about the Weedeman name except that Henry P Weedeman's parents were probably Ernst and Christina Weidemann, from Germany.
What also interested me was the rich history of the Paul Family from Gloucester County, New Jersey, who's ancestry goes back to the1500's in Somerset, England. My wife's great grandmother was Belle Paul, who bought the house we now live in. Most of the information found about the Paul Family in this tree is from the book "Phillip Paul of Stocklinch, Somerset, England and some of his descendants in Old Gloucester Co., New Jersey and elsewhere," by Gordon W Paul. Some information was provided by Dorthea McElwee, daughter of Belle Paul, who died in 1996 at the age of 98.
From the time I was a young boy I remembered my mother's father Eugene DelConte, who came to the United States thru Ellis Island from Italy when he was twelve years old, and the story he told me about the streets of America being paved with gold! It was exciting to visit Ellis Island in the summer of 1999 and see the DelConte name inscribed on the Wall of Names, now I had a better understanding of where my family and I came from.
Well the search will continue, and I hope my descendants find this as interesting as I do, and will pass it along.
