John Reese King Brooks came to Texas in 1856 from Macon, GA.JRK, as he was known, was married four times.#1 - Cecilia Lewis; #2 - Carolina Cassandra Blackstock #3 - Louisianna A. "Nettie" Pierce (my great-grandmother) and #4 - Mollie Nelson.Louisianna A. Pierce as the story goes was born in Louisianna.She became an orphan at a very early age and was sent to Texas to live with relatives.We do not know if Pierce is her actual name or her adoptive name.She died in 1891. My grandfather, Paul DeWitt Brooks was born in 1884 in Rusk County, Texas.He married Minnie Weaver in 1913.Minnie is the daughter of Andrew Jackson Weaver and Mattie Walling.Mattie is the daughter of James Thomas (Jessie) Walling and Altemira Pennington of Tennessee. Both Great grandfathers faught for the confederacy.The Weaver decendents are from a line of Judith Jefferson (cousin of President Thomas Jefferson) and Hannah Boone of Pennsylvania & Kentucky. I will continue my search and hope that some of your out there can help me find the information that I need. |
