Know all men by these presents, that we Gottlieb
Gottel and Luise Gottel[w/umlaut], his wife, for and
in consideration of natural love and other conditions
hereinafter expressed do sell and convey to
Gottlieb Gottel[w/umlaut] Jr. our son the following
described Real Estate and property
The West half of the North West quarter of
Section thirty two (32) and the South East
quarter of the South East quarter of Section
thirty (30) all in Town Ninety eight (98)
Range three (3) W. containing One hundred
and twenty acres in Allamakee County
State of Iowa
The conditions of this sale are as follows.
1. Gottlieb Gottel Jr. has to pay us or either of us
on demand One thousand Dollars, with
interest at eight per cent per annum to commence
the 1st. day of January AD 1872.
2.Gottlieb Gottel[w/uml.] Jr. has to pay his brother Hermann
Gottel Eight Hundred Dollars, of which sum
Four hundred Dollars in installments as needed
by said Hermann Gottel to support him and
pay to his education, the remaining four hundred
Dollars at the time said Hermann Gottel becomes
of age, drawing interest on all not paid by
the first of January 1872, from that day
until paid at eight per cent per annum
til paid.
3.The new house built on the South Side is to
the use of Gottlieb Gottel Sen. or his wifes use
during their or either their natural life.
Should this house burn down or be destroyed
by any accident, then Gottlieb Gottel[w/uml.] Jr. must
furnish a suitable building or dwelling for
G. Gottel[w/uml.] Sr. and wife.
4.All the Personal Property, as Horses, Cattle
agricultural and other implements of all kinds being
left by us with Gottlieb Gottel Jr, we reserve
for our use 1 Cow of G. Gottel S.[Sr] choice
which has to be fed and kept free of charge by
Gottlieb Goettel Jr. along with the stock left on
premises, should such cow die, or prove not good
said G Gottel Jr. has to furnish another but good cow.
also we reserve 1 Heifer on same condition.The
cow named above at our death falls to G Gottel Jr. free
of charge.
5.Gottlieb Gottel Jr. has to furnish us or either of us yearly
Thirty Bushels of wheat
Twenty Bushels of potatoes
Twenty Bushels of corn
One fat Hog, weighing ab. 300 lbs.
One Dozen eggs weekly
One chicken (dressed) every month
firewood, sawed and split all we need at the door of
our dwelling and if we want it into the house.
all water we need
washing weekly
the use of one half acre of land on** the South
end of the house, for a garden, to be manured
yearly
6.After our deaths all our personal property shall
be divided equally between all our children.
7.After the death of one of us, if the remaining one
should prefer to remove to any other of our children
Gottlieb Goettel Jr. shall pay Fifty Dollars Cash in
lieu of all the above provisions, with condition that the
remaining one may at any time return and occupie
his old home.
8.Our youngest daughter Emilie has to receive Three
hundred Dollars out of our personal property
before a division between all is made.
9.Gottlieb Gottel Jr. has to make yearly from
four to six trips with team with or*** for
us to Lansing or any place in the county
we or either of us wants to go, or have anything carried.

1871, before me a Notary Public for said
County, personally appeared Gottlieb Gottel
and his wife Louise Gottel and Gottlieb
Gottel Jr and acknowledged the above instrument
to be their free and voluntary act and deed, and
signed the same.
