Nathaniel Farnum Nichols
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 6 at 1:30o'clock, for the late Nathaniel F. Nichols. Dr. J. W. Taylor, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. The remains were taken to Juneau, Wisconsin,to be laid to rest beside his wife in the family burial lot.
Nathaniel Farnum Nichols was born in Genesee County, NewYork, November 11, 1843. In 1847 hemoved with his parents to Theresa, Dodge County, Wisconsin, and later toJuneau, in the same state.
Mr. Nichols served three and a half years in the Civil Warand belonged to the John Ely Post No. 31 of Juneau.
In 1868 Mr. Nichols was married to Miss Laura Jane Tabor, ofJuneau, Wisconsin. Of this union ninechildren were born, five of whom are still living. They are: Blanche N.Simser, of Malta, Montana; Nathaniel Tabor Nichols, of Chicago; Pearl C. Yocum,of Boulder, Colorado; Daisy L. Swackhammer of Superior, Arizona; and ElectaRyan, of Sioux City, Iowa.
Deceased's wife passed away on August 4, 1905. In 1904 Mr. Nichols purchased his home inBlue Earth, on West Fourth Street, where he has since resided.
After a short illness he passed away at 5:30 p.m., Friday,December 4, 1931. Two of the daughters,Blanche N. Simser and Electa Ryan, were with him at the time of his death.
Besides the five children left to mourn his death, he alsoleaves one sister, Mrs. W. O. Dustin, of Elmore, and one brother Lorenzo, ofthis city, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Wednesday, November 11, Mr.Nichols celebrated his 88th birthday, eighteen relatives gathering at hishome. Twenty-three days later he passedaway, aged 88 years and 23 days.

Death of Mrs. N. F. Nichols
Mrs. N. F. Nichols died at the home of her daughter, Mrs.Philip Simser, in Blue Earth, August 4, 1905, aged 57 years.
Laura Jane Tabor was born August 4, 1848 at Theresa, DodgeCounty, Wisconsin. When 18 years of ageshe removed, with her parents, to Juneau, Wisconsin. On August 4, 1867 she was married to N. F. Nichols. Nine children blessed the union, but fourdied in infancy. In April, 1903, shewas stricken with paralysis, after which she lived with her daughter, Mrs. PhilipSimser. Last January she had anotherstroke from which she never rallied. Last Saturday it became apparent to anxious friends that she was nearingthe crossing of the dark river. After aweek of intense suffering she passed away upon the anniversary of her birth andalso of her wedding, leaving five children - four daughters, a son and ahusband to mourn her departure.
Thus ended a life patient in trials and looking to aneternal rest with a loving Heavenly Father.
A short service was held at the home of her daughterSaturday at 2 o'clock p.m., after which the remains were taken to Juneau,Wisconsin, where appropriate services were held in the Methodist Church of thatplace where she had been a faithful member for forty years and where she wasloved and appreciated for her many virtues.
She was laid to rest by the side of her loved ones who werewaiting to welcome her.
