|Peter and Lubica Puraty immigrated from Nadalja, Yugoslavia to America in 1907, along with their son Ivan.Over the next 17 years, they would have twelve more children all born in the United States.I have been told that they had a total of 17 children, but I have only been able to find 13. |
They traveled back to their old country several times.Peter also traveled to America in 1902 before he married Lubica.
Below are links to their Ellis Island Passenger Records.Once you click the link, click the passenger's name, then make sure to click on "view original ship manifest", where you will find more information. Please note that their names may be misspelled due to many reasons. For example, the immigrants came from another country where they spoke another language. They may have spoke broken English (or no English at all), so the person writing the transcript had to guess on the spelling. This caused spelling errors and transcription errors due to hard-to-read handwriting.
Lubica also went by the name Violet. Also, due to the broken English that Lubica spoke, her name was translated wrong on several documents (census records, birth certificates, passenger records, etc).I have seen her name written as Zynbica, Violet, Lucy, Lura, and Alora. In addition, some documents show her maiden name as Rockich (her correct maiden name), and some show it as Rakity (her mother's first name in Serbian).
This family tree is the results of all the research I have found on the Puraty family descendants thus far. Please contact me if you know of any other descendants or ancestors of the Puraty family, or if you have any further information to add.
