|William Wicking (1802-1879)and Maria Rason (1803-1875)were married at St Magnus the Martyr, London, on October 17th 1824. They had eight children.|
The family arrived in Australia circa 1851, but unfortunately the ship on which they came out is unknown, and nor can we be certain that they came out as a family unit.
William and Maria lived in Williamstown, Victoria, until their deaths but many of their descendants went to live, and continue to live, in the western districts of Victoria.
On the Queen's Birthday holiday of 13th June 1983, about 160 descendants of William and Maria gathered at the Williamstown North State School. This reunion was inspired by Thomas Wicking of Warrnambool, and brought to fruition by Tom, Janet Westcott, Alan and Joyce Wicking, and Inez Bruce.
