|RESEARCH--I am interested in the history of the Wickenden family.Working backward from the first mention of Wingindene(1041) in Cowden, Kent, England, as one of the original dens in the Weald, I am interested in those who established the den, where they came from and how they got to Wickenden.Working forward, I am interested in the development of Wickenden, the association of Wickendens with other homesteads and farms in Cowden, the movement of the family out of Cowden to surrounding villages and towns and, finally, the emigration of Wickendens from England to countries throughout the world.|
BOOK--The book attached to this page contains information about the Wickendens who helped to settled Cowden, photographs of some of the historic homes with which they were associated and speculation about the original site of the Wickenden homestead.
REPORTS--My FTM file is based primarily on the information in the International Genealogical Index (IGI) of the Latter Day Saints. Attached is a report on "Possible Pathways to Cowden" illustrating how one can use the information in the IGI as a research guide to identify possible ancestral lines that lead back to Cowden.Because IGI linkages are only conjectural, there may, as in this case, be multiple possibilities, with each branch point representing an especially important linkage to be studied.
REUNION--Please contact me if you share an interest in Wickenden history.I am looking for help in organizing a gathering in Cowden of Wickendens from around the world. For details, see the related link below.
