Settled with his wife on a land grant in 1784 on Pilot Creek, which became known as the Martin Flinchum Farm . This was about three miles west of of the town of Pilot Mountain and a couple of miles up the creek from the Hill Farm where his father had lived. The official record is: Nov 3, 1784 NC grant to Azariah Denny 150 acres on Pilot Creek (pages 25-26 of Surry County, NC Deed Book C.) He lived, died and was buried on this farm. A tomb stone carved out of field stone marks his resting place. His wife is also buried there with a field stone marker. Supposedly lived to well over 90 years of age. Azeriah Denny, John Stone, Enoch Stone and others to lay out road from Haynes Iron Works on Thoms Creek to Rockford (Note the Stones here, there were numerous Denny / Stone marriages in Surry County). Surry County, 9 November 1795, Azeriah Denny on Grand Jury. Azariah purchased 107 acres for 50 pounds on the waters of Pilot Creek from a Joshua Sumner on 2 Jan 1796. This is just a sampling of data that Denney/Denny Genealogists have uncovered so far on this man. ADDITIONAL DATA ON CHILDREN Joshua moved to SC. Asenith moved to SC. Polly and Jesse Hill moved to Gallia County, Ohio along with the families of her three sisters, Sally (Denney) Stone, Nancy (Denney) Stone, and Elizabeth (Denney) Bray. They apparently went at the same time as William, James, Harrel and Henry Denney. Rachel and John Fletcher moved to TN?. There is a colony of Denneys in Elizabethtown, TN, just across the border from NC which is reason to suspect that John Fletcher followed some of the Denneys to TN. Joel Denney did not show a Louis Denny as a member of this family so he may not belong here. More About Azariah Denney and Sally Wise Felton: Marriage: 1776, Surry County, NC.
