It is not known when James first arrived in the Great smokies. Military
records show that james was a veteran of the war of 1812.It is almost a
certain fact that he was there by age 20. Buried Bradley Chapel Cemetery,
Sevier County, Tennessee.
According to the 1850 Cocke County Federal Census, James was 56 years old
in 1850.Others in the home were Rhoda (Giles), his wife, age 54: Also
James 17; Saunders 14; Perry 12 who was in school; and Elizabeth 7 also
in school.These four children may be grandchildren rather than
children, more research
