| Abraham Lincoln,
the 16th President, led the United States during one of its most
trying and difficult times — the Civil War. During that time,
President Lincoln used to walk alone at night to the War Department
to find out the latest news. He was assassinated in 1865 while attending
the theater. While his wife lived on, all but one of his children
died in their youth. |
