He married Jemima Shaw in Taunton, Bristol, Massachusetts, 22 Oct 1765. Jemima was born 1742/43. Jemima was the daughter of Daniel Shaw and Jemima Hodges. Jemima died 13 Jun 1825 at 81 years of age.

John Barney and Jemima Shaw had the following child:
