| General MacArthur
will long be remembered as a hero to many Americans for his part
in World War II. The son of a general in the Civil War, he and his
father are the only father and son to be awarded the Congressional
Medal of Honor. During his career, he was the youngest army chief
of staff ever appointed, presided over the Japanese surrender on
September 2, 1945, and toyed with the idea of running for president. |
