Joseph Mechlin Rose (b. June 30, 1795, d. February 17, 1848)

Joseph Mechlin Rose (son of Godfrey Peter Rose and Margeretha Green) was born June 30, 1795 in Philadelphia, Pa, and died February 17, 1848 in Easton, Pa. He married Maria Rosina Kremser on August 20, 1820 in Moravian Church, Bethlehem, daughter of John Kremser and Anna Sybilla Beck.

Notes for Joseph Mechlin Rose:
only soldier from Bethlehem to enlist and serve in the war of 1812...enlisted 9/25/1812 and was discharged 12/24/1814....most of his Service was at Marcus Hook, NJ
Lived in Philadelphia...all children were born there except Ellen Margeret who was born in Bethlehem. Moved from Philadelphia because of the Cholera epidemic. He did move back later and then on to Lancaster, PA and then to Easton, Pa. Father of Seven Children....taught school in Rittersville, PA
Doctor Hubner German paper printed in German in Bethlehem in 1848 carries the obituary of Joseph Mechlin Rose who was a grandson of this Peter Rose, name of paper " Biene" verifies this.

It is claimed that the guardian of Joseph Mechlin Rose and his brother William Rose cheated them out of money which should come to them when they became of age. Joseph tried to get this money but did not succeed. The man who promised to get this said later there was nothing to get.
