Alfred Harrison Kern (b. March 10, 1889, d. October 13, 1957)

Alfred Harrison Kern (son of Daniel S Kern and Mary Jane Butz) was born March 10, 1889 in Allentown, Pa, and died October 13, 1957 in Bethlehem, Pa. He married Edith Ida Jane Schiffert on January 11, 1908 in Emmaus, Pa, daughter of George Peter Schiffert and Amanda Blank.

Al joined the Bethlehem police force on February 28 1929. He retired on . He served the former Bethlehem borough force and was a special officer at the Bethlehem Steel Coke works. For many years he was the regular traffic cop at the Broad and Main intersection operating the old hand signals from a little shed in the middle of the intersection. In later years he assisted school children at the Calypso school area.
His sisters married names were Mrs Franklin King, Mrs Elmer Dorn, Mrs Annie Turczy, Mrs Charles Krauch, Mrs Stewert Dorn, Miss Emma Kern all of Bethlehem
