My branch of the Abbott family is documented in "A Pioneer Family of the West" Asa Appelton Abbott, 1926. In it Asa documented his family, from his grandfather, Josiah Abbott, born about 1790 in MA. He listed his grandmother as Dorothy Stiles, but did not name his grandfather, or Josiah's brother.

The family lived in Andover, Essex County MA, then relocated, first to Cleveland, Ohio, and then to Missouri. My line came to Northern California following the Civil War and then to Oregon.

Josiah married Anna Hollister, b Bolton, Connecticut 10/25/1799. She was the daughter of Appelton Hollister and Sarah Carver. She was descended from John Hollister b 161 in England. He came to America in 1664 and located in Weathersfield Connecticut. He married Joanna Treat the daughter of Honorable Richard Treat, Sr.

Josiah had two sons William Dudley and Martin Hollister and three daughters
