My grandfather Carey Samuel Blanks was born in Americus GA. Granddads father had about 14 brothers from what I have been told. My greatgrandfathers name is Everett James Blanks and he too, was born somewhere in the South. "Blanks" is not a very popular name for people of color, so I am trying to find out where and who my people are. Up here in Connecticut, there are quite a few of us.
My grandfather married my grandmother, whose name was Freda Mae Littman Blanks. Nanny(which we all called my grandmother) was born in albany GA. Her mothers name I believe was Sally, and her fathers name was Henry Littman. There are also quite a few Littmans here in Connecticut. I know that Nanny had some relatives in Philadelphia, but again we don't know who they are.,other than Littmans and Carters.
