POEMS

Once Again Its Chrsitmas By: Elsie Abel

Once again it's Christmas, the time of year When gladness fills the atmosphere, We cast all differences aside And love within our heart's abide. Once again comes to this troubled earth The Blessings of our Saviour's birth. Once again we see the wondrous light Sine bright or Bethlehem tonight. Once again the Heavenly Hosts Proclaim Christ is born in Bethlehem.

Once again amidst the tinsel trim We hear the chidren carols sing May we like the Wise Men from afar Be led by faith and the Christmas Star To the humble stable and there take part And share the joy in Mary's heart. And with the Sheperds kneel to pray And worship Christ this Christmas Day Bring like the Wise Men did of old Our love as they brought gifts of Gold.

Once again its Christmas to you and yours Christ's love to expect which forever endures Once again the Herald Angels sing Glory to the new born King! Once again they touch their harps and then Sing Peace on Earth, Good will toward men Their carols ring out or'e friends or'e foes To our hearts bring joy, another year to a close. And so we step out of this world of night Into a new World, warm, aglow with light.

"Its Augumn When" By: Elsie Abel

It is augumn when the woodlands dress In scarlet red and gold, When the frost is on the pumpkin And the cold of winter is fortold, By jackets of the chessnuts That lay scattered on the ground, And the caterpillar's coat Thick and glistening in black and brown.

The geese are towing summer southward Vacagioners lock their cabin door Ovserving the beauty of the birchwoods Along the quite shore; From somewhere dirts the note of a meadowlark Robins are flocking to depart, Leaving memories of a million songs To treasure in my heart.

The brooklet is singing an augumn song Unheard amidst the rush and din, While the cling-clang of farm machinery Is bringing the harvest in. Thou we are caught up in the hustle We find time to meditate, It's when nature celebrates the harvest And we all participate; And enjoy the beauty of the scarlet tide And all that stems from buds and seeds of spring. Again we are greateful for the bounty That only the "autumn season brings."

In Memroy of "Mother" By: Elsie Abel

Mother dear, Our Father has called you home The call came o're the distant hill; Like a dream, sad, but oh how ture Now a voice we lived is still.

God granted you a life so talented, To find in each day joy and pleasure; For the many kind deeds done for us God has laid away for you a treasure.

As we stood out upon that rugged shore In the hour of your funeral knell; Though lased with waves of grief, we heard a voice Within the sound of distant bells.

The same voice mother, that beconded "come" Speaks now our hearst to ease, As proudly, we waved farewell to you Sweet memories drifted in the breeze.

Where our shepherd leads, our hearts abide. No more with us this earth you'll roam For an Angel came and took your had Because, Our Father called you home.

Now your work worn hands, "Oh Mother" dear Lay folded near your breast May he who knows, and sends his grace Grant you now eternal rest.

Forgive, Oh Lord, where we have failed, She is now within thy care; "Faith," lets the light of "Heaven" shine Upon your vacant chair.

"Elsie"
