I began researching our family genealogy with the encouragement of my father, Donald Preston Abernathy due to the many rumors that have circulated over the years about our true blood lines. Since our research began in October of 2000 we have been able to verify that my great-grandfather, Cicero Egbert "Bert" Abernathy was actually born Cicero Egbert "Bert" Lane in Howe, Grayson County, Texas to Alexander Wesley "Alex" Lane and Martha L. Haning Lane. We were able to locate the only living child of Bert and Maggie Abernathy, my grandfather's brother, Earl Wesley Abernathy. I continue to search for missing, living, relatives, and to dig for information on those who have passed on. The research is very interesting, though sometimes challenging and I hope to publish a family book for my dad and my uncle in the near future. If you are related to our family please contact me so that we can help our family tree continue to grow. Here are a few of our family surnames: Abernathy, Allison, Barrow, Bartlett, Dinkins, Lane, Newman, Reed, and Richter.
I have very little information on my husbands family, the Robinsons because I am currently putting my efforts into the Lane family research.
My mother does the genealogy research on her side of our family. Here are a few of their family surnames: Schane, Toombs, and Turner. She has info on many branches off of those names.
With the assistance of my mother, Mary Lou Elaine Schane Abernathy, I currently host a password protected family website on myfamily.com
