Hello my name is Stevi Abshire. I have been trying to trace my fathers (Kirk Abshire)family through his parents Edison Abshire and Mitha Simon of Kaplan louisiana. I have had lots of luck with my grandmothers family which I have traced back to Antoine Gougeon (1626-1678)and Jeanne Chabrat (1627-1678)on her fathers side, and Guillaume Canol and Madeleine Lebran on her monther side. If the records I found are correct these were some of the first Acadian settelers. However, I am not having such good luck with my grandfathers family. I know that my grandfathers parents names were Lustia David Abshire (1911-1986) and Gladys Trahan (1914-1976). Lustia's parents were Camille Abshire and Cleotilde Schexenider. Gladys' monther was Eva Matthews. Camile's parents were Alexander Abshire and Delusca Abshire (maiden name unknown. This as far as I have been able trace. I have seen alot of Abshires that have english background but as far as I know my family is french.
