The Erich Adler Family of Dayton Texas

Updated November 9, 2000

About Our Family Research

My side of the Family came from Saxony, Chemnitz area. Immigrated to Canada and thence to the USA. They are Evangelical Lutherans. So far I have not found any others, other then 2 cousins. We were a small family and we have no information of others in Germany. There were 5 brothers and 1 Sister. Otto, Rudolf, Walter, Fritz, Erich. and Dora or Dorothy. Grand Father was Herman (Hermann)? and Grandmother Christiana (Mainz). They lived in a small village (ortschaft) by the name of Waldkirchen/im Vogtland. This may have been absorbed by a greater city. I remember my Dad talking about Plauen, Zwickau and other small cities around the area. He was apprenticed as a Butcher and Sausage Maker and attained his journeymans status. He also was able to speak a little Polish as they would go to Poland to buy beef cattle. The family had been in the Lace making business but went out of business due to the problems of WW 1 and more automated equipment. It sure would be nice to find anyone that is related to us.
