My father is Marks Palmer Afonso,who was born in Benoni Johannesburg , South Africa.(2 April 1944) His family came to South Africa by ship in the 1940's to settle here.He married my mother Anna Susanna Magdalena Venter in the 1970's.(Born 20 November 1957).She had two children,myself Lindy Afonso and my brother Mark Anthony Afonso.My father's family originally came from Estreito da Calheta,Madeira.My grandmother is Conceicao de Jesus Afonso who was born on 6 February 1905 and my grandfather is Antonio Afonso born 21 March 1905.My father is one of five children,and the only remaining Afonso to carry our family name to my generation. We are Roman Catholic of religion, but are not actively church going.
We live in a quiet suburb called the Bluff, where the sun always shines and the waves are good.My brother and his partner Melissa Anne Hook, have a daughter together.Skye Anne Hook,she was born 23 December 1998.We are a loving family that cherish our heritage and are proud to be Portuguese!
