About Our Family Research

My Aunt is the last surviving member of her generation and at 92 resides in a Nursing Home. While taking care of her at her home I became interested in the family history. She was able to tell me some things about the family but now is not able to remember anything.Using the internetI started looking up things on a hit and miss method until I figured out what I was doing. The research was fascinating. I was more interested in bringing the family up to date than in going way back.It has been a lot of fun even frustrating at times.
I used the census going through them two or three times and picking up more every time I do. Ancestry.com, Family Search . org, are the two main sources I used.
Luckily, my Aunt kept the prayer cards of people who dided way back then. This gave me names and dates to use to look up these people. I found out when they came to America and where they came from. I find it interesting to see that most of these relatives came from the same area in a Poland, called Posen or Poznan. There must have been a mass emigration out of Poznan in the late 1880's because many of the people I have been researching left Poland at that time for America.

It has been an interesting search.
