Agin/Agins descendents are searching for names and information related to James Agin's parents and siblings. He was born in Somerset Co., NJ, in 1759 but the British destroyed the courthouse and records there abt. 1778.
In a deposition filed for a Rev. War pension, James stated that he knew his birthdate from his mother's bible, last seen when she died abt. 1800. To this date we have been unable to determine if this bible, and/or the family information it contains, still exists.
DNA matches link the family to the Egan's of County Offaly, Ireland, but so far we've been unable to establish an historical link to help us determine who, when, and what port of entry our ancestor(s) arrived. DNA matches also confirms linkage to brothers Isaac and James Agin born in PA, abt. 1795 and 1792, respectively, believed to be nephews of James of Hunterdon.
If anyone has information regarding James Agin or his family or descendents, please let me know.
Thanks, Mark C. Agin
