Kia ora - Greetings!
I am researching Roger Hill my great grandfather who is believed to have come to Auckland NZ from England. He was born approximately 1840-41 died 1911 at Opotiki. Married twice. Nothing is known about his first family other than that he had a grand daughter called Olene who lived in Fiji with her RNZAF husband before returning to live at Ohakea Airforce base where the writer met her briefly in 1957.Roger moved to the east coast where he became the first teacher at the first maori school at Omaio. He married a young maori woman in the 1880' and had 7 children, Annie, Polly or Te Oti, Puti,Himiona, Hemi, Robert and Maria. Also looking for Polly' descendants in the USA -Dixie. She emigrated there about 1915.Husband's surname believed to be SUGGS.After Polly and her husband died the children were put in an orhanage somewhere in the deep south. My grandmother Annie who was Polly's elder sister named her daughter Dixie because of Polly' move to that state. Look forward to any information thank you.
