i am searching for my gattis roots. i was not raised by the gattis side of my family and met my daddy when i was 14. his living relatives either do not know very much about the family including names or just don't want to talk to me about them. so i'm starting on very little info. i have been to tenn. to meet a cousin i found through research and he has helped with some info. my great-granddaddy was Henry Gattis and his wife was Mary McElroy. he had several children but i don't know all the names. my grand daddy was Paul Gattis who was twice married first to my grandmother Stella Roach Gattis then to a woman named Edith. my daddy's name was Fred Gattis and had 6 brothers and sisters who all but a few have passed on. rumor has it that Henry's mother was full blooded cherokee indian but i have not been able to find that out yet.
