Research into my fathers family history is fairly sparce. I am currently searching for historical information prior to my great grandparents.
Nicolae Olteanu was born in Inghesu, Romania. After he was married and had a family, he travelled to Canada, landing in Halifax Port and continued his travelling to Saskatchewan. He secured a job as a construction worker building hotels in Saskatchewan when he sent for his wife and children. My great grandmother Mary (Maraloi) Olteanu was also born in Inghesu, Romania and travelled over with four children, Max, Nora, John and Victoria (my grandmother Victoria Albu was a babe in arms at the time). Mary landed in Halifax Port April 15th, 1906. When she made it to Saskatchewan, she heard the news that Nicolae had died in a construction accident. She was taken in by the Red Cross and met Nick Christie, married and had three more children.
This is a story that has been told to me many times over my lifetime. At 30, I have a strong desire to search deeper into my lineage. If anyone has any information regarding Olteanu (this name was changed to Oltean once landed in Canada/North America) or any information on Albu please contact me. I would greatly appreciate any help someone may have and am willing to share any infroamtion I have.
And so... the search begins.
