I am the daughter of Charles Arnold Alford and Carmela Marie Sciandra.
I am just beginning the research of my anchestors. I started this project in August of 2000. I first started with my Alford ancestors. My grandfather on my father's side was Benjamin Franklin Alford. His parents were James Arnold Alford and Johnnie Sarah Lassiter. I very soon found the GenForms and posted what I knew of my grandfather and great-grandfather. Some wonderful members of the American Alford Family Association answered my posts. From the information I gave them, they did some searching and were able to connect me with some distant cousins in Montgomery, Alabama. I became a member of the AAFA, and attended their Alford Reunion in Augusta, Georgia last October and had a wonderful time.
I am now also trying to research my ancestors through my grandmother on my father's side. She was Mary Lou Sawyer. Her parents were James Clarke Sawyer and Dora Lee Walker. So, I am now looking for Sawyers,Walkers and Jordons.
I am just learning how to do all this researching and have a very long ways to go.
