Only thing Daddy could tell me about Nanny Alford was her mother's name was Mary Johnson, her father was Julius Capps. She had a brother named Wede and Aunt Essie (Lumberton, NC I believe) was her sister; she also had a half brother named Frank Capps.

George Capps Jr., 88, of Sessions Street, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Conway Medical Center.

He was born in Galivants Ferry, a son of the late George W. Capps Sr. and Ola Mae Shelley Capps.

He was a charter member and former deacon of North Conway Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for 57 years. He retired from Dargan Construction Co. and was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Leona H. Capps; a son, Dayton Capps and his wife, Rina, of Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Patricia C. Vereen of Conway; nine grandchildren, Sherri Capps, Clark Vereen, Marcy Capps, Russell Vereen, Sonya Clark, Angela McCurdy, Melissa Farwell, Melanie Murdock and Sarah Capps; and seven great-grandchildren.
