I have just decided to search for my family roots. I am not sure where to start but I am determined. My grandfather was Albert Garrett and he married Sara Coffman (This was Saras second marriage atleast). Sara had a son, George and a daughter Martha (not sure Martha is right name) from her previous marriage. Albert & Sara had James, Ernest, Olin. My dad was Ernest Junior Garrett. He was born on 12/20/1919 & passed on 10/14/1994. I know that they lived for many years in Virginia (Pennigton Gap). My father moved to Michigan and spent the rest of his life there. Albert & Sara moved to Maryland and that is where they both passed. I know that Albert died after 10/1994...probably 1994 or 1995. I can not seem to find any information on any of them accept a census that shows Sara with her son Ernest living with her mother Martha. I am planning to visit the library to find out how to start my search.
