Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
When I first began tracing my ancestry I knew very little, bits and pieces that I remember as a small girl and stories that older members of the family could remember. I also found that I am not the only one in the family interested in learning more about all this as well. As far as I can tell the "PAYNE" family goes all the way back to "WILLIAM PAYNE" abt 1741-abt1810. I do believe he was an Irish immigrant and involved in The Revolutionary War fighting for the English. This info is still being researched and updates will posted to the validity of this information. This would be NINE generatons back from my 17 year old son, Scotty. I was also able to trace "JOHN CARROLL PAYNE'S" (1785-1865), son of William Payne, first wife "JANE POLLY" (abt 1785-1811), second wife "JANE SUSAN WALLS" (abt 1795-1850) were more than likely sisters. Their Mother was "SUSAN BIG BEE POWHATEN WATTERS" (abt1778-1828). Her Mother was "POLLY BIG BEE" (abt1658-1801). Polly Big Bee was from the Cherokee tribe, Indian Teritory, NC/Cherokee, Swain Co., NC. This would be TEN generations back from my son Scotty, born 12/5/1983. I hope all our family will have access to this site and feel free to add names, information, and photos as well.
