I am the forth samuel ammons and my son is the fifth that I have documentation of. 4 generations of my line are alive at the time of this writing. There are other sam ammons's presently as well as an African american connection but I do not know how or where this comes into play. My line decended from the Ammons-McCoy-Tate's-Conner's of kentucky in the 1800's. 'samuel barnum ammons' b.7 june 1855 and d. 3 sept 1933 in california. He is buried in the old cemetery at delano ca. my gt.uncle 'milton'his brother,is buried to his left and my g.mother 'lorna lee tate'ammons is to his right along with her g.father 'william conner' and a cousin of hers, 'capitola squires'. S.B.Ammons married Mary C. McCoy march 10, 1878, daughter of Ammon McCoy and Nancy Vorgenson b.november 18, 1852 in Breckinridge county KY. Two children that I know of were born, my g.father 'ralph waldo ammons' and his sister 'mabel ammons' robertson. my g.father r.w.ammons d. in california and is buried there as well as his sister mabel. she lived on orange ave. in long beach ca. and I remember visiting in the 1950's. my g.father 'r.w.ammons' married 'lorna lee tate' in KY. and this union produced four children 'ralph waldo ammons jr', 'buhrman (jerry)Ammons', 'thelma ammons 'and my dad 'samuel henderson ammons b.6 dec 1910, d.july 10, 2001 age 90. my g.dad ralph w and my g.mother lorna lee were divorced before WW2 and my g.dad remarried to Johanna Hajek. One child was born to this union, my uncle 'elmer'ammons born about feb 10,1934. he lives in manitou springs colorado and like me, snowbirds in the winter. my dad 'samuel henderson ammons' married my mother 'Mildred Adel Lola Blue'(blough) b.28 october 1912 and are presently residing in los osos, ca. from this union two children,my sister 'lorna lee ammons' (named for my g.mother) b.9 november 1936 and I 'samuel stewart ammons' b. 28 july 1938.were born. I plan to add to this as time goes on so if anyone reading this has some names or dates that I don't please contact me so that I may update. I know that I am english irish and scott on my fathers side and german and penn. dutch on my mother's side. I know that my ancestors were here fighting in every war the US has ever had including the big one against the crown a long time ago. how sad it would be not to leave some history of the families that have come togeather since before this nation was formed and the 'ammons/blue/mccoy/tate/conner' lines in particular. let me just call this 'footprints in time'.
