Native Central Texan, born March 26, 1942, at Birome, Texas.
Birome is about 10 miles northeast of Waco, Texas.
Grew up on a farm/ranch.
Graduated from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, Texas in 1964 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Commercial Art.
Completed Master of Arts in Human Resource Development in 1978 with Pepperdine University.
Worked as a commercial artist during last two years of college.
Married in January 1964, to Carole Jenson, of Fort Worth, Texas. Carole is self-employed as a real estate agent with ERA Colonial Real Estate, Harker Heights, Texas.
Entered Active Duty in February 1965, as Adjutant General Corps Second Lieutenant, United States Army.
Military service includes two assignments in Germany, (both in Heidelberg at U.S. Army, Europe Headquarters) one tour in both Korea and Vietnam, three assignments at Fort Hood ( Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1, 1st Cavalry Division, Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1, HQ, III Corps, and Director for Community Activities) and three assignments in Washington, D.C. (two in The Pentagon – (1) Office of the Secretary of the Army, Public Information and (2) the Defense Intelligence Agency and one split assignment in the Military Personnel Center as Chief of Continental United States Military Personnel Distribution Branch and Chief of Adjutant General Career Branch for Enlisted Personnel)
Retired from Active Duty as a Colonel in May 1993, after 28 years and 10 months service.
Served as Fort Hood’s military liaison to the Killeen Independent School District School Board on two separate occasions, for a total of three years.
Employed by the Killeen Independent School District in October 1993 as Special Assistant to the Deputy Superintendent.
Have two children---Darran, 39, a Field Artillery Major, assigned at Fort Hood, III Corps Headquarters as Corps Battlefield Simulations Officer, who lives with his wife, Caroline, in Harker Heights, and Cheryl, 36, who resides with her husband, Eric, in Belton, Texas
Have four grandchildren, Madeline, age 10 years, Nathan, age 8 years, Lucas, age 2, and Felicity, age 1.
Member of Grace Lutheran Church, Killeen, Texas.
Hobbies include drawing and painting, cartooning, fitness/daily exercise and driving and showing (car shows) for my Corvette sports car.
