I've searched back as far as Anders Andersson born 1776 in Kila Parish, Varmland, Sweden. His grandson Johannes (my grandfather) married Sophia Bergman from Gavle, Sweden. They first lived in Uppsala and then emigrated to states in 1871.
Other family names are Hodge, Infinger, Rhodes, Brosseit (came from Berlin, family originally from Alsace-Lorraine region, so Brosseit may be a germanized version of a French name), Caufield, Callahan, and Swain.
