My research began in 1997, when I discovered that my father, James Foster Reed, had used a fictious name since sometime after 1920 when he served in the Army in El Paso, Texas. The story unfolded, and as it did, so did the ancestors of my father whom he had never spoken about. It has been very interesting discovering relatives, meeting new cousins on the internet, etc.

My father married Ruth Hammond in Elko, Nevada, in 1932. They had 4 children, Patricia Belle, Louise Eleanor, Geraldine Sue, and John Anthony. The family moved to Utah in 1942 where dad took a job as a lineman with the Southern Pacific Railroad. Patricia died November 21, 2000, and Louise January 5, 2001.

My father's real name was Hector Lane Fitts. He had two brothers, Howard Henry, and William Thomas. Neither of them had any children. There parents were Henry B. Fitts and Ida Belle Ford, Of Decatur, Alabama.
