The Dalton Family

About Our Family Research

Hi! I'm Jen Anderson. I am in charge of keeping this webpage as up to date as possible. Most of the research on the Dalton family has come from my Dad, Jack Dalton. Besides our family history, we will be posting announcements of upcoming family events. Please check back often to see the latest updates.

The Annual 4th of July Family Reunion was a huge success! The festiveties began on Friday evening, when all in attendance (Aunt Sandy, Uncle Harold, Marc, Christie, Haylee and Dawn) enjoyed a great all-you-can-eat seafood dinner at the Crab Shack.

Saturday morning saw more attendees arriving, including the Andersons from Michigan and Jason and girls from Virginia.

Lollipop the Clown arrived at noon. The kids (ok, and the adults!) loved her!! She taught them how to make Bat/Mice and swords out of balloons. A lesson on making bags with secret compartments was also included.

Water guns are a tradition at Dalton Family Reunions. Besides the water guns themselves, Dad set up a slip and slide for the kids. The boys got frustrated because the girls... Devon, Haylee and Lizzie... pretty much took over the slip and slide, leaving the boys left standing off to the side! That's Dalton women for ya!!

At four, the photographer arrived. Each family had the opportunity for a family picture. Then, we all headed across the street to the gazebo for a HUGE Dalton family picture.

Much to Mary Jane's surprise, Dad had arranged for her friend and piano teacher Jeff, along with his wife Jeanine to come in for a mini concert. Jeff played the piano while Jeanine sang. It was wonderful!

Sunday saw the departure of much of the family, including Marc and family, Uncle Terry and family, Uncle Tommy and Grandma.

Sunday afternoon the pinatas (bird shaped of course!) came out. The kids who were left... Eric, Ryan, Steven, Devon, Bobby and Lizzie... had a great time hitting them open and gathering up the goodies. I'm sure Dad will have palm tree shaped confetti in his yard all summer!

A storm came through on Sunday evening, knocking out the power. Dad, Aunt Sandy, Uncle Harold, John and Violet decided to take their chances and head to Harrington and the slot machines. Kevin took our kids back to the hotel, which had power, to go swimming. The rest of us sat around in the candle light and enjoyed uninterrupted conversation. It was a bit dissappointing when the power came back on.

Monday morning was the departure time for John and Violet and family as well as Aunt Sandy and Uncle Harold. They decided to take a boat ride in Baltimore before heading home.

That afternoon, Dad took his grandkids fishing. They wore him out! He was the only one who didn't catch any fish. Bobby learned that he really loves fishing. Dad says he is a natural!

Tuesday, Dad took Dawn fishing while Kevin and I took the kids to the beach. They had never seen the ocean before. Kevin, Dawn and I all got sunburned! The kids loved the waves, except for Lizzie who would stick her tongue out at them and then run away!

Wednesday was the final day of visitors for Dad and Mary Jane. Kevin, the kids and I left about 1:30 and Dawn flew out at 7 pm.

Next year, Uncle Tommy will be hosting the reunion at his home in Kentucky. The party will begin on Thursday, July 4, 2002 and continue through Saturday, July 6, 2002. More details will follow as the time draws closer!

Pictures of this year's reunion will be available soon. Please check back!
