Marian Cinda Anderson (daughter of Clayton Anders Anderson and Doris Ruth Bucy) was born 13 Sep 1942 in Palmer (Merrick county), Nebraska, and died 18 Mar 2007 in Son's Home, Lead South Dakota8. She married Harold Ray Fairbairn on 01 Sep 1963 in Wolbach (Greeley County), Nebraska, son of W. Dale Fairbairn and Louise Marie Boruch.

Retired from school teaching at age 61 to spend time with her family and be around her grand children as they grow up.

Harold and Marian met at Hastings College from which they graduated in 1964. They both taught school in Malvern, Durant and Sac City, Iowa. Harold has advanced degrees from the University of South Dakota and Iowa State University. Marian has hers from Iowa State university. Harold has a partnership in a counsulting engineering firm (MHF Engineering, P.C.) and Marian worked with disabled Children in the Jefferson Community Schools.

Scott was born while they lived in Durant, Iowa and Steve was born in Sac City, Iowa.

Rites to Be March 24 For Marian Fairbairn
Marian Cinda (Anderson) Fairbairn of Lead, South Dakota, formerly of St. Paul, died Sunday, March 18, 2007 at her son’s home in Lead.
An open house memorial service was held in the Methodist CMC Building in Lead on Tuesday, March 20th, with a prayer service. A funeral service will be held at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul, on Saturday, March 24, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul.
Mrs. Fairbairn was born September 13, 1942 to Clayton and Doris (Bucy) Anderson in Palmer. She grew up on the fami ly farm near Cushing, with her three brothers. She attended Dis trict 6 country school through eighth grade and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1960. She received a bachelor’s degree in education from Hastings Col lege in 1964 and a master’s degree from Iowa State University in 1981. She made her career as an elementary school teacher, teaching first,third and fourth grades as well as special education in Malvern, Durant, Sac City and Jefferson, all in Iowa.
During the years that she had children at home, she taught pre school in her home. In 2004 she retired from teaching and moved to Lead, South Dakota, to be near her grandchildren.
Mrs. Fairbaim enjoyed scrap booking, reading, traveling, genealogy, and being outdoors, but her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
She was active in every community in which she lived, being a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Lead Golden Gals, Bide-a-Wee, First Friday Club, Hearst Library Book Club, United
Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma, Beta Sigma Phi, and a regular at the Northern Hills YMCA. In her retirement she volunteered at the Lead-Dead wood Elementary School, the YMCA Preschool, and the Adam5 House and Museum.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Shelley, Bondurant, Iowa; and Steve and Sandy, Lead, South Dakota; two grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Wayne of Las Vegas, Nevada, David and Donita of Randolph, New Jersey; and Jay and Phyllis of St. Paul; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Her parents, Clayton and Doris Anderson, preceded her in death.
Memorials may be donated to the Hospice of the Northern Hills, the Adams House and Museum and the Lead YMCA preschool.
