The Nixon and Anfinson Families in America

Updated June 2, 2002

About Our Family Research

The Nixon family arrived in America during the colonial days and have participated in every aspect of the history of the country. Through the auspices of the internet and the great efforts of so many family members, the family is re-connecting.

The Anfinson family came to the United States from the Stavenger region of Norway during the 1880's. Several brothers arrived at the same time but after a few years were separated for reasons unknown. Anfin and John were the names of two of the brothers. A sister Olegaar (sp?) remained in Norway.

Letters from family members, written in Norwegian, were given to my husband after the death of an uncle, and most include the names of the family.

My husband's grandfather was Anfin Anfinson, one of the brothers, and settled in San Francisco. His wife's name was Anna Elmquist of Sweden, but with sisters or perhaps brothers, in Wadena, Minnesota.

It is the mission of myself and others to locate members of the Anfinson family and hopefully fill in the missing pieces of the many stories left to tell.
