About Our Family Research

I am only just starting to research my family history. My paternal grandfather, Louis, came to England from Lithuania in about 1905.

He lived in Kaunas, and brought 3 children with him when he came to England, where he settled in the East End of London. He was a master tailor by trade.

My father Huskil was the youngest child.

My grandmother was very talented musically and taught several instruments including the piano, and the balilaika.

I know that my grandfather had a brother, who it is believed emigrated to the US at about the same time my grandfather came to England. We have not yet been able to trace that branch of the family, but I am hopeful that with the help of this site we may yet achieve that.

Both my grandfather and grandmother died when I was still quite young, so I was unable to talk to them about their life in Lithuania.

I will add further information to this, as and when I gather it.
