Most of my research has been done by talking to family members and coping names and dates from old family Bibles. I am Dorothy Ann Oppenhiemer Arato and my mother's maiden name was King. I have the Bible that belonged to my Grandfather Rufus M. King, showing his marriage and children. My grandmother was Callie Ann Grubb King and I have been given information about the Grubb family from her siblings and their families. My father was Harry William Oppenheimer, and I know that he was adopted in Charleston, WV. When my mother tried to get his birth and adoption records, in about 1950, she was told that the courthouse had burned in Charleston and that all records for that time period, 1885, had been lost. I have attended a Grubb reunion in Wytheville, VA and received some records from relatives that show we are descended from Henri Grub. There are many missing people and dates in my records, but I am happy to have gotten as much information as I have from family members who are still living.
