********************************************************************* MY FAMILY I am a a retired Physician born in Asuncion, capital of Paraguay on December 15,1922. My Father LEON ARDITI was born in Salonica, Greece, son of Elias Arditi and Matilde Arditi. At the age of 15, after the death of his parents my Father emigrated to Egypt. At the age of 30 he decided to emigrate to Paraguay. A nephew of my father also named Leon Arditi remained in Salonica. In the second world war this nephew was deported to Auschwitz as thousands of the Jewish community of Salonica. From then on we lost contact with him, his wife and the one child. Later we received de information that Leon Arditi perish in Auschwitz with his wife Daisy. his mother Regina and his only son Samuel. My mother, Victoria Palombo, was born in a little town near Smirna called Pergamo (Bergama). Her Father was Hayim Palombo and her mother Sara Corquidi. At the age of 7 when her mother died, her father send her to Cairo to her eldest sister Rachel to be raised there with her sister Matilde. At the age of 21 in her way to Paraguay to the wedding with my father, came to Palestine with her sister Matilde to be with her cousins who lived in that country: Dr. Nahum Corquidy, a Physician from Jerusalem, who was the son of Nessim Coquidi one of the founder of the society "Ahuzat Bait" with the purpose to build a new city that was called afterword Tel Aviv. Two other relatives she found in Jerusalem were Mr Bar-Adon and Bea Corquidi Barzel.She married in Paraguay with my father Leon Arditi and had five children: Eliahu (me),Sara, Nessim, Samuel and Hayim (Jaime). In 1971 my mother visited Israel for six months, where she made acquaintance for the first time in her life, with two half sisters of her: Linda Palombo Mosseri and Susan Palombo who came to Israel a couple of years after the war with Egypt in 1956..They were sisters from the same father and Sara Jaffe as their mother to whom my grandfather marrried. I got my MD degree in 1947 in the School of Medicine in Asuncion, Paraguay. I came to Israel in November 1949 and inmediately I was commited to work as a Family Physician in four kibutzim situated in the occidental Neguev.In 1950 new setlements was founded, Moshavei Ovdim, near one of the kibutzim, Urim, where I served the jalutzim of the kibutz. In 1950. in the month of August I was wounded seriuosly when my vehicle exploded because a mine that was put in my way to see a patient. I was hospitalized during one month. In 1951 I left the kibutzim and the four moshavim, because my drafting to the army. I served until September 1952.I settled in Nes Ziona in November 1952 and began to work as a Family Phtsician in a population of new inmigants that came from Turkey, Marocco,Tunis, Irak, Yemen, Rumania and Poland and setled in Nes Ziona. A town that was founded in 1887.In 1957 I was called by the army to take a course of paratuchism. In 1959 I was send to The Kaplan Hospital of Rehovot during one year where I refreshed my kwnoledge in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.In 1961 I was send to Jerusalem in order to study a one year course on Public Health in the HADASSAH MEDICAL SCHOOL of the Hebrew University. I got my Master of Public Health degree in 1962 I was Nominated Deputy Medical Officer in the Region of Rehovot and Responsible of the Public Health services in all the country that my medical organization, Kupat Holim, was responsible. In 1968 I was asigned as the General Medical Officer of the region of Petah Tikvah up until 1973. In this year I was assigned as General Medical Officer at the Region of Ramat Gan where I worked until 1988 when I retired. I continued to be Family Physician during 12 years more.
